About IPP The Illinois Prairie Painters Chapter was formed in October 1975 to pursue the goals of the National Society of Decorative Painters on a local level. The Chapter is designed for students, teachers, and friends of the art of tole and decorative painting. Objective: The objectives of this organization, in common with the objectives of the Society of Tole and Decorative Painters, are:
Decorative painting is a diverse art form utilizing a variety of techniques and media to decorate functional and non-functional surfaces, while tole painting is historically decorative painting on a tin surface. With the guidance of a competent teacher, any individual may learn the techniques of decorative painting and enjoy many beautiful hours of individual achievement, creativity and self-expression. Chapter meetings are held five times a year and educational seminars are held four times a year. Please view our Membership and Meeting links for information on how you can become a part of the world of decorative painting.
